But here we have some pictures of the Christmas party with my ex-high school students! From left to right, we’ve got Shimizu, Mao (not Chairman Mao.. He was busy), Rie, and Sayuri. One more was supposed to come, but she was busy with a university event.

It was nice to see them all again and to just talk casually (not in a teaching/instructional way), and it was nice to see what they’ve done with their lives and how they’re growing. I joined three of them as second year students, and the other (Sayuri) I saw through her whole high school career, so it means a lot to me to see them move on in their lives. Also, though they all live in Tokyo, this was the first time to get together, so it worked out for everyone.

After decorating cookies (I made them all in advance the day before), we did the “white elephant” present game (which doesn’t work so well in Japan, where openly upsetting social order is frowned upon), and then watched some Christmas movies.

They all will be going home for the New Year, but currently the plan is to throw another party in January after everyone gets back. It should be fun!

Back to work tomorrow morning and through Thursday, then picking up my sister on Friday!

I’m really tired right now (haven’t really been sleeping well for the past two months, but that’s another story for another time), so I’m gonna keep this short..
