Sorry I haven’t written for the past few weeks. Things have kinda.. well, sucked, to be frank. I try to avoid writing anything when things are bad because I know that eventually it’ll turn around and my emotional ranting will be pointless (and possibly embarrassing), but I figured I should at least people up to speed regardless. Not quite out of the downward spiral yet (and not looking to end any time soon), but.. not dead yet. That’s something, right?<\/p>\n
Though I can’t be specific, basically I’ve been trying to improve my life recently and be more outgoing, try new things, identify places that I could do better and do better<\/i>. Alas, I’ve met with failure in some of these attempts, in rapid succession, which leaves me a very unhappy Jason. I’ve also learned that I’ve got another Christmas, birthday, and new years celebrated with the likes of me, myself, and I to look forward to. I’m sure you can appreciate that this isn’t a very cheery proposition.<\/p>\n
Anyway, so that’s the rough explanation why no one’s heard from me in awhile.<\/p>\n
What else has been going on? Well, Thanksgiving goes by with a whimper here in Japan, but it does mark the official day where it’s not tacky to decorate for Christmas, so I have my apartment and desk decked out in Christmas trees, ornaments, and wreaths. I also have a large Christmas movie collection (45 movies and specials, in case you’re curious) playing on rotation on my TV for the next 30 days or so. No matter what anyone may say or do, I love Christmas. In fact, I less than 3 Christmas.<\/p>\n

Now if only people would stop trying to crush my semblance of happiness, we’d be doing great!\n\n\nComing up this month, I’ve got a test next Sunday, then in two weeks I’m going to have a Cookie Decorating Party<\/b><\/i>!! I know what you’re thinking: That is the most awesome thing in the world. Unfortunately, my western coworkers didn’t agree last year (apparently the concept of a ‘party’ that doesn’t involve liquor seemed outlandish), so this year I’ve recruited some of the Japanese staff. Going to make 3-4 styles of cookies, icing, decorations, and then have at it. Probably will give the cookies to my students afterwards. Oh, and going to make a gingerbread house. Yeeeeeeessssss.<\/p>\n
After that.. don’t know. My vacation officially starts on 12\/25 and ends on 01\/04 (11 days of talking to myself). I should go out and do something, but most of the people I know have to return home to their families, and it’s prohibitively expensive to travel. Bah humbug. Also, after my colossal failures earlier (and trust me: when I succeed, I succeed spectacularly. When I fail, I fail with a bang. I do nothing halfway), I’m a bit disinclined to try anything. One can only take so much and still remain remotely outgoing.<\/p>\n
That’s about where things stand in the here and now. Spent 12 hours with a blanket over my head in bed watching Christmas movies yesterday, then dragged myself up and out of the house for lunch with some students and studying for 4 hours.<\/p>\n
Hopefully the next time I write I’ll have something more exciting and\/or uplifting. All the same, hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and is heading into a good Christmas season!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
