08/26/2007: "Not at work.. yet!"
Current Sounds:
Nothing, really
Hey, I'm not writing at work. Now isn't that progress? Instead, it's Sunday night and I'm not doing homework. This wouldn't really be a problem if, you know, I didn't have a 6 page Japanese article to read. I think it's worth noting that when Japaese is written in newspapers, they use a more formal vocabulary (read: words I'm not familiar with) and write in a more stiff manner. It's tough, but at the same time, I'm sure it's a good experience. In the mean time, I just want to stab this paper repeatedly.
Oh! Totally forgot about my stats quiz due by Tuesday.. ha! I'm awesome.
Otherwise, the first week of school (as I may or may not have already stated.. I kinda forgot) went by pretty well, I think I'll do all right. I went to the house of one of the Japanese students (from my work) where she made some pork/bean sprouts/onion dish I never heard of, but it was pretty good. Then went out for about 4 hours of English/Japanese speaking on Friday, again with someone else at a coffee shop on Saturday, and again today for 4 more hours in the library. My goal is for about 6-8 hours of speaking a week, so I think 12 hours somehow meets/exceeds that. I think.
There are definite interesting situations (perks, maybe?) for being the only American/native-English-speaker at your job outside of the teachers. I certainly get to meet and get to know alot of people (there are 100+ students this semester). Plus! Assuming that the picnic/s are on my off days (work days), I can go on those, too. Pretty awesome, I must say.
Anyway, I need to get to bed so I can get up, go to work, and do that working thing. AND! Must read my Japanese homework.. what fun.
I'll write sometime in the relative near future.
